How to Crochet a Half Granny Triangle

So here we are again with a new granny pattern. This time we will show you how to make a Half Granny Triangle. This one will be a lot similar to the other granny patterns but with a small twist. It is also known as Half Granny Square since if you look at it, it does look like the diagonal half of the Granny Square.

Things we will need to make our Half Granny Triangle

Crochet Hook size: 3:75 mm

Yarn: Any 4 ply yarn

Further, we will also require a pair of scissors and a yarn needle. We will take 2 different colours since this will make it easy for you to see different rounds clearly

Abbreviations:

Ch: chain

SS: slip stitch

dc: Double Crochet

The pattern for the Half Granny Triangle will be as below:

Chain 4 and join with the 1st chain with a ss

Round 1

Half Granny Triangle

Step 1: Ch 3, 3 dcs in the circle

Step 2:  ch 1, 4 dcs in the same circle

Step 3: ch 1 and cut the yarn, secure it by pulling the same

At the end of Round 1, you will have 8 stitches since they are in a cluster of 4

Round 2

Take a new colour and make a slip knot and start with your hook in 3rd chain of chain 3 in round 1

Half Granny Triangle

Step 1: ch 3

Step 2: 3dc in the same space

Step 3: 3dc in the next chain 1 space

Step 4: ch 1, 3dc in the same space

Step 5: 4dc in the last dc of round 1

Step 6: ch 1 and cut the yarn, secure it by pulling the same

At the end of Round 2, you will have 14 stitches

Round 3

Take colour of round 1 and make a slip knot and start with your hook in 3rd chain of chain 3 in round 2

Half Granny Triangle

Step 1: ch 3, 3dc in the same space

Step 2: 3 dc in the next space

Step 3: 3dc in the next chain 1 space

Step 4: ch1, 3dc in the same space

Step 5: 3dc in the next space

Step 6: 4 dc in the last dc of round 2

Step 7: ch 1 and cut the yarn, secure it by pulling the same

At the end of Round 3, you will have 20 stitches

You can do as many rounds as you want. This pattern is repetitive and does not involve turning the work, due to which it is the most loved pattern by all the crocheters for the triangular scarf. You can also make different coloured half granny triangles and attach them to make a purse or a bag.

Further, It will have 4dcs each in start and end of it and 3 dcs in each space, and 6dcs in the chain 1 space.
