“Be Genuine” – Jessica Rought’s (Rey & Ry Creations) Interview

Jessica Rought mother of two cute girls knew crocheting since many years but decided to make a lovely business out of it when her eldest was born and today her creations sell under the name of Rey & Ry Creations

Jessica was already into crochet since 29 years but when she started seeing cute baby boot patterns she really wanted to get into it. Baby stuff is so cute and that feeling of making something for your own baby. Many of us start our hobbies and businesses like that and Jessica was no different.

Her actual business and sales began when she created a lovely puff stitch beanie for herself. She just clicked a picture and put it up on her personal Facebook page and everyone went crazy. Orders started pouring in and more than that she was happy because people loved her work.

Making a business successful is surely about your own hard work and passion but the family also plays a very important part. Jessica’s husband is very supportive of her business. He tolerates her yarn addiction and the fact that the house is full of different kinds of Yarn lying all over the place. Jessica loves how he helps support her business, “He works hard so I can stay home more with our girls and put more time into crocheting and designing.”

Since we are on the subect of family we shoudnt forget the two cutiesbehing this business. Jessica shares how thy are the Inspiration for this lovely buisness of hers, “My daughter’s Riley (Ry, 4y/o) and Reagan (Rey 1y/o) are really my motivation. This side hustle is to help give them the best life. And they are my biggest fans!”

Jessica believes in creating things that she loves. She does what interests her the most. Not worrying about what others are making. In her opinion every genuine maker is the same. Doing what you love not carrying about what others are doig or making is the way to. Do what your heart says.

1 Peter 5:7 “cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you” this verse has been a big part of my life for years. It keeps me in check, especially when I am working on market prep.

This business being a side hustle for her Jessica works part time as a Lead Teacher in a Learning center. She teaches 16 kids who are 2 years of age. Well, we think it is a fun filled and dream job, though it might have its own challenges. Sewing and Knitting also interests her when she isnt crocheting.

When asked about something to share with other makers, Jessica says exactly what we believe in, “Be genuine. People will know if you aren’t being true to yourself. When you make things that others want to see but don’t interest you, is very obvious. Your work will suffer and you won’t enjoy yourself! Don’t worry about the number of followers you have. To do what you love!”

Knowing and interviewing people like her is the best thing we get out of this series. A part-time teacher. a perfect entrepreneur, a lovely wife, and a caring mother. we love the fact that she manages all this and also knows and appreciates the effort and contribution her husband does in her lovely business. Kudos to you Jessica.
